Kashish Hemnani is the jet setting designer behind the oh-so-luxe accessories label, LAYKH which is celebrating its ten year anniversary this year. Based in Hong Kong, but soon to move to Dubai, Hemnani specializes in exotic accessories that focus on timeless elegance.
You’ll notice classic shapes, such as the red carpet inspired long rectangular clutch, an over-sized tote as well as a top handle handbag that channels Audrey Hepburn. For the color palette, expect rich reds and emeralds as well as cute pastels and classic black. What more could you want from a handbag?

Tell us about your background…I am Indian and a proud Hong Konger! Born and brought up in Hong Kong, I went to university in London where I graduated with a law degree and three years later I launched a handbag brand! Laykh will be 10 years old this June, 2019!
Why accessories? From a business standpoint, handbags are a vital part of our daily attire, they are a fashion statement with a purpose, a functional accessory and always in demand. My product was not “fit” specific, measurements are universal and it made me feel relaxed that there was potential for crystal clear online sales. The power of the exotic skin handbag dawned on me, how the luxurious textured statement skins can transform a simple jeans and t-shirt day into a picture worthy street style moment and those “nothing to wear” days go from frustrating to fabulous!
Who is your customer? The LAYKH Lady – as I like to call her would refuse to buy a lifeless uninspired bag just because the designer’s name is on the front. She does not fall victim to trends but is a knowledgeable shopper who knows what her money is worth, believes she is worthy to own beautiful things and invests in quality classics. She is confident to stay away from the “it” bags because she knows they may be all the rage for one season and a dust collector for the next. She is secure and stylish in her fashion choices.
What do you love most about your job? The relationships I have forged along the way, luckily for me my work takes me to all the best cities, Italy and Singapore for sourcing and New York, Dubai, and London to exhibit. Whether it was editors or my customers, I have met some really interesting women from all walks of life and of all ages. I never thought this job would gift me the opportunity to create lifelong friendships with some incredible women from all over the world. One of my best markets is Dubai and on one of my trips, I met my future husband!
Where do you see your brand in 5 years? Our next step is expanding into the gift sector, personalized gifts for weddings is my main focus at the moment. Whilst my bespoke service is still intact I aim to graduate to a fully-fledged stock-based business hopefully soon and with we see some Laykh arm candy on some red carpets!
